ENYO Retail & Supply gets fast, accurate business intelligence with Wragby Solutions
Arising from the successful implementation of a Station manager’s system (SMORS ERP) by Wragby, ENYO partners with Wragby to gain actionable insights from the myriad of data minable from its operations. Its specific requirement was for this operations data to be accessible via executive dashboards that its team can interrogate on their own to drive its strategic and operational decisions.
ENYO Retail and Supply (ERS) is arguably one of Nigeria’s most exciting indigenous energy retail brand in the country. A customer-focused, technology-driven retail energy company, ENYO provides best-in-class retail experiences, leveraging an array of complementary brands to optimize investors’ returns. Their primary focus is to integrate first level customer service experience with fuel retailing and renewable energy products in Africa. ENYO is pioneering the technology revolution in the downstream sector and using technology to unlock additional value from its retail chain of more than 84 stations located in 14 states of Nigeria.
The Business Need
ENYO believes that its biggest source of competitive advantage is its domestic and international expertise in the development of the key tenets of the Nigerian fuels retailing industry. Truly, its dedicated core of experienced industry professionals has demonstrated proven capabilities and resilience in taking on and thriving amidst bigger and older competitors. In other to fully exploit this advantage, therefore, ENYO set out to articulate one technology need after the other, using them as transformational tools and ‘force multipliers’ for its management and staff.
The Engagement Strategy and Process
Leveraging our team of expertise, we set out on the project by envisioning the desired outcome through the capabilities of the Microsoft Power BI cloud. We also demonstrated the versatility resulting from the unique integration of Dynamics 365 and Power BI into a custom Business Insight solution. The solution was designed to consolidate, centralize, serve up all of ENYO stations data via customized dashboards, with visibility and drill-down capabilities.
Through a series of business workshops, we differentiated our solution: demonstrating how Power BI cloud integrates directly with other Microsoft cloud technologies giving it an edge over stand-alone business intelligence competitors, including QlikView and Tableau. Besides, Power BI is web-based, allowing users to interact in real-time from anywhere.
The Solution
Exploiting the seamless handshake between Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI, Wragby’s data team designed high level, self-explanatory, and interactive executive dashboards. The dashboards showed the bigger picture of the station profitability analysis, surfacing critical customer-specified metrics that are crucial to the organization’s operational health. These metrics included daily expenses, volume (in liters) of products supplied and sold, extending these metrics by showcasing the relationships between various data points. A notable example of such insightful relationships is the difference between the volume of products supplied, volume offloaded into the underground storage tanks in the stations, and the volume sold at the pumps in each station and globally.
The dashboards were powered mainly from the CRM environment data ingested into Power BI from ENYO’s existing Dynamics 365 solution. After ingestion, several calculated measures and derived columns were further created to aggregate key measures. The dashboard includes reports on Station Expenses vs. Station Reimbursement, Total Sales vs. Budget (Drill down from YTD to Daily and MTG, DTG), and Pump Sales vs. Tank Sales also showing gain or loss.
The Result
The solution with Power BI as its core has helped the organization to detect and minimize waste,
determine where their highest profits are generated, determine the performance of their various stations, improve visibility, measure services, and achieve minimum time and cost necessary for business and application processes.
ENYO can now easily track the various activities going on in all fuel stations with the aid of this centralized dashboard. Bottlenecks can be identified quickly for immediate resolution and with minimal downtime and impact on operational efficiency. The solution also identified the need to further automate the processes involved in delivering products to customers, thereby improving transparency in the stations.
ENYO has also been able to reduce time spent on processes, and most importantly, reduce product wastage to a minimum while identifying its most profitable customer segments as well as individual customers who are subscribed to its various programs.
Before the deployment of the Power BI cloud for ENYO, its decision-makers have to wait on their technical staff to generate periodic reports from their Dynamics 365 application before issues can be identified, and solutions proffered. This process meant that the process of identifying operational showstoppers and mitigating them always lagged the actual problems, leading to constant ‘firefighting.’ The Power BI deployment eliminated this major impediment, enabling ENYO’s management to gain instant visibility and pinpoint areas requiring intervention in real-time.
The Future
Wragby has subsequently implemented this Business Insights solution in several other sectors: notably the Department of Petroleum Resources (Oil & Gas) and Sovereign Trust insurance (Insurance). These deliveries include visualizing data from Dynamics 365, Azure Database, and SQL server database.
As a committed Multi cloud partner Wragby is replicating this differentiated solution to other operators in the retail energy sector across Africa. Our efforts have yielded a higher impact through deeper co-engagement and partnerships in delivering “tailored-fit” solutions for our joint customers.
With the deployment of these technology solutions, more ‘thorns’ in ENYO’s bed of roses have been identified and mitigated. The experience has been an awesome one for both the company and its customers.
